What happens in a laser eye treatment?
During a laser eye treatment, a special laser reshapes the front part of your eye (the cornea) so light can focus better. The procedure is fast and many patients see better within 24–48 hours.
What risks should you know about?
Even though laser treatments are safe, like all medical procedures there are still risks. Some of the risks include:
- Dry eyes: After the laser treatment your eyes may feel dry or itchy for a time.
- Glare or halos at night: Some people may see bright rings or blurring in low light.
- Fluctuating vision: Your vision may be a little unstable before it fully settles.
- Infection or healing issues: Rarely, the eye may have complications in the healing process.
- Not suitable for everyone: If your eyes are not healthy or your vision prescription is unstable, you might not be a good candidate.
What can you do to reduce risks?
