What is a lazy eye?
A lazy eye is also called amblyopia.
It means one eye does not see as well as the other eye. The eye itself may look normal, but the brain does not use it fully.
Why does a lazy eye happen?

- Very different vision in each eye
- Crossed eyes (eyes not straight)
- One eye not used much as a child
If it is not treated early, the brain learns to ignore that eye.
How LASIK works
LASIK uses a laser to change the shape of the cornea. The cornea helps light focus clearly.
LASIK can fix:
- Short-sightedness (myopia)
- Long-sightedness (hyperopia)
- Astigmatism
LASIK helps the eye focus better.
Can LASIK fix a lazy eye?
The short answer is: No, LASIK cannot cure a lazy eye.
LASIK changes how the eye focuses light. A lazy eye is a problem between the eye and the brain.
Can LASIK still help in some cases?
Sometimes, yes.
If a lazy eye also has poor focus, LASIK can improve sharpness in that eye. But it will not make the lazy eye normal.
